PRIVATE PILOT

To obtain a private pilot certificate you must be 17 years of age, hold a third class medical, read, write and speak the English language, and meet the following minimum requirements per FAR 61.103, 61.107 & 1.109:
- 40 hours of flight training from an authorized instructor in a single engine airplane
- 3 hours of cross-country flight training in a single engine airplane
- 3 hours of night flight training in a single engine airplane including one cross-country flight of over 100 nautical miles total distance, and 10 take offs and landings in the traffic pattern
- 3 hours of flight training in a single engine airplane by sole reference to instruments
- 10 hours of solo time to include:
- 5 hours of solo cross-country time. One solo cross-country of 150 nautical miles total distance, with full-stop landings at three points, and one segment of the flight consisting of straight line distance of more than 50 nautical miles
- 3 takeoffs and three landings to a full stop at an airport with a control tower
INSTRUMENT RATING

Applicant must be able to read, write and speak the English language, hold at least a Private Pilot certificate, have 50 hours of cross-country PIC time and meet the following minimum requirements per 61.65(d)
- 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument time in areas 61.65(2)( c)
- 1 cross country flight filed as an IFR flight plan of 250 nautical miles total distance. Three different kinds of instrument approaches at each airport.
COMMERCIAL PILOT RATING
To obtain an a commercial pilot’s certificate, the applicant must be 18 years of age by the time of their FAA checkride, read, write and speak the English language, hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate, and have logged at least 250 hours of flight time to include:
- 100 hours in a powered aircraft, of which 50 must be in an airplane
- 100 hours of PIC time to include
- 50 hours in airplanes
- 50 hours cross country flight time
- 20 hours of training from a certified instructor which includes
- 10 hours of instrument training
- 10 hours of training in a complex airplane, a turbine airplane, or a technically advanced airplane (TAA)
- One daytime 2-hour cross-country flight that consists of a total of 100 nautical miles straight line distance
- One nighttime 2-jour cross-country flight that consists of a total of 100 nautical miles straight line distance
- 10 hours of flight time (solo or with an instructor) which includes:
- One cross country flight of at least 300 nautical miles with landings at three different points, one which must be 250 nautical miles from the original departure point
- 5 hours of night flying in VFR conditions with 10 takeoffs and landings in the traffic pattern
CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR

To obtain certified flight instructor’s certificate, the applicant must be 18 years of age by the time of their FAA checkride, read, write and speak the English language,
- Hold a commercial pilot’s certificate
- Hold a category and class rating appropriate to the rating sought
- Logged at least 15 hours total flight time as PIC in the aircraft to be taught in
- Received and logged Spin Awareness training from an authorized instructor
